I've had the same concerns and also in the elevator trim tab department.

To those flying: Have any of you experienced any quality / reliability
issues in this area?  Are we fretting over a non-issue?

FWIW, I was thinking of using telephone handset (actually RJ-45-ish) cord
for this application.  It's designed to flex a billion times.
Unfortunately, it's also designed for 'operation' at room temperature.
