I am ready. Really ready. To get my IFR license. So I looked around a made a few calls, and also want to see if THE list has any words of wisdom on the subject. My current thinking is the PIC course. I like it because a) it's intensive and quick, and b) I don't have to go live in a hotel for 2 weeks, someone else does that. After getting my private license I swore NEVER AGAIN would I try to get a license with a part-time instructor while I make appointments hoping I can "slip out of the office a little early". That process sucked. So... I need to pass the written before PIC shows up. They recommend Aviation Seminars weekend course (8 hours per day) and then take then written that Monday. Then PIC shows up, and voila, 10 days later I have a check ride. So that's my plan. Any thoughts on either of these programs? The biggest bummer is... given my schedule and PIC's schedule, the only 10 day period that works is mid-October. That means I need the written crash course before mid-October, and the only time available with Aviation Seminars in Charlotte is September 15 and 16... what a bummer - I really wanted to attend the Dogwood event this year, however, I will not be able to attend.
