Curmudgeons of my caliber already know that most "why" questions have no answer. However, in my town, fences are limited to a height of 43 inches and I recently found out "why". Horses can jump'm and cows can't. Just be happy that someone thought to include this special FAR for experimental amateur built aircraft. If you lived in Canada, you would be painting enormous numbers on the bottom of your wings so that you are more easily reported to the noise police when you buzz your girl friend's house. Note that commercially built aircraft are required to have 12-inch numbers but my Skymaster had numbers from 10 inches to 11 inches painted on the tail boom. Why? Because thats all you could fit. Could a Skymaster enter the ADIZ or fly overseas? Well, just ask the "Brothers to the Rescue."
