I then went home a= nd drilled 1/16" holes in each check nut and safety wired them! I also pain= t them with red torqueseal so that I can see any slight movement during pre-flight checks. In the first 10 hours of flying my nose gear door hydraulic cylinder also loosened at the door end and the door was closing= but leaving about a 2" gap. These check nuts have now had the same treatment. Firewall Engine Mount Torque My solution to this problem was to take penny washers the same size as those welded on the engine mount (1 1/2" I think) and use them as spacers= to fill the thickness of the fiberax material. However, because the washers are only providing compression resistance I drilled lightening holes all around them to reduce the weight. I recall that it needed two washers at each mounting location but I may be wrong. I would certainly not recommend simply tightening the engine mount down on the stainless/fiberax without spacers. Happy landings (my last one was a greaser - but who knows about the next!= ) michael (LNC2 G-FOPP, based Cranfield UK) Dr Michael A Fopp = michael_fopp@compuserve.com Signed in the UK at 10:18 (ZULU) on 15-Aug-01 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> LML website: http://www.olsusa.com/mkaye/maillist.html LML Builders' Bookstore: http://www.buildersbooks.com/lancair Please send your photos and drawings to marvkaye@olsusa.com. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
