There is a service using the SMS messaging service using mobile phones (I assume
this works also in the non-GSM, USA) which gives you the METAR and/or 9hr or 18
hr m TAF as immediate reply to sending the ICOA for any airport.
The convenience is that it only the requires the phone switched on for a few
seconds, and of course it is independent of the cockpit noise level,and stored
in the phone for as long as necessary.
