If you look under courses for Aviation Structural Mechanic (H&S) 3 & 2 and down load chapter 6 of the training manual it has a very detailed desciption of the flaring process. I did not find anything that contradicted AC43.13 and it had alot more detail step by step. One interesting detail was mention that 5052-O aluminum was usable only for hydraulics up to 1500psi max. Isn't our working pressure somewhere in that range? On the subject to tightening the AN818 nut I did an experiment. AC43.13-1b 9-30 has a torque table for the AN818 Nut. Using a crowfoot on my torque wrench after snugging the nut down I reached the recommened torque after moving the nut one flat. If you use this technique don't forget to adjust the torque for the new effective length of the wrench plus the crowfoot.
