BEFORE NEXT FLIGHT! If your IV or any other Lancair model has a hydraulic
system filter (p/n B-4F-60) installed, before your next flight disassemble
the filter (use 3/4" wrenches) and discard the sintered metal filter element
and the spring.
HI , is this the one that is very close to the return side of the emergency
handpump?
Martin, the parts in (both sides) of the emergency hand pump lines should be
check valves. It's important that they not be removed. The filter in question
is an "aftermarket" item sold in the Lancair Catalogue, and not included in
any kits as original equipment as far as I can tell. It looks a bit like one
of the kit-provided check valves, but is a bit bigger in diameter. Although
this filter could be installed anywhere in the system, most knowledgeable
builders would install it somewhere in the main hydraulic pump return line.
Send me a direct post and I'll send you a digital picture if you'd like.
