When I attached the elevator trim tab hinge (MKII tail), I used commercial
stainless countersunk screws with lock nuts that have a tensile strength
equal to or exceeding the rivets they replaced.  My rationale in doing so
was two-fold.  First, there was a lot of discussion at the time about the
size and length of trim tab to use on the MKII tail, so I wanted the hinges
and the entire assembly to be removable to allow for any future
modifications and/or upgrades to the trim system.  Secondly, there was not
nearly enough room in the thin trim tab to allow for the optimal bucking of
rivets.  However, after reading all of the discussion on this subject, I'm
wondering if my installation method is adequate?  It sounds like once I
commit to the tab size, I may need to at least go ahead and Hysol it
permanently in place?
