No problem, Ed. I'll come and get you in the Cozy. We can diagnose it on
the way back :)
Tell you what - if this goes on too much longer I'd spring for a
commercial flight.
> Now if you have a lot of prop that of
course could be part of the answer why your rpm is lower
Yep. I
have a LOT of prop.
> so unless its some problems with
fouled plugs
The plugs were as foul as I've seen, and I've seen
FOUL.
>I use SCATT tube and have never had it
collapse, you do have the type with the wire in it?
Yes. I think it may be a bit restrictive, but it
probably didn't collapse

engine some time to cool off in descent) I believe

power.
The response was immediate when I adjusted the mixture
during the return taxi. I think toward rich.

indicated you had checked your fuel pressure (I might have just missed
it).
So
might I. I don't recall it. It's in my scan, but....
> Could the heat generated by the climbout
have caused something like that [vapor lock]
I'm thinking heat too. The power loss happened about 35
mins into the flight during mid power cruise. I doubt it was vapor lock, though
I've never experienced it I would expect more fluctuation in rpm. This was as if
someone switched off half the engine. (or maybe 1/3)
> Could have been mixture. I sort of
discount this one as if you are flying and everything is stable engine wise, the
fuel
> requirements (and therefore mixture ) does
not usually change abruptly enough to cause that kind of power loss.
but if
the ignition isn't there, the mixture is automatically off - right. It WAS a
mixture adjustment that brought the power back.

Thanks. I'm happy to discuss it in public. Maybe it'll
help someone else - like maybe Buly 6 years from now, when he's going through
the same stuff. :)
Thanks for the input, Ed.
