Pity, since his cowl is such a work of
art, as is the rest of his installation.
Yes, it was nicely
done. My engine mount design was based on his with a few changes. I really did
like the look of his cowl, but yours was so much more entertaining for the rest
of us. I'll bet not many on this list remember his cowl? Hopefully he'll
be back.
I bet they can't
catch you in the plane. BTW, why haven't we heard any flight reports
from you :-)
Uuhh, good question, but I don't have a great answer.
Just been way too busy. I began playing hockey in a league again this year and
it's been keeping me pretty busy. Finished that a few weeks ago, just as
branding time has arrived (cows.. for you city slickers:-). Just finished that
yesterday and now we are into a 2 week maintenance shutdown at work. Right after
that I'll have a little more free time before the summer ice hockey season
starts, then It's gonna get real busy in July when my first child arrives. Then
I'll escape for 2 months as I return to tech school at the end of
August.
I have done a fair amount of work on cowl ducting/fuel
system to alleviate the vapour lock that I experienced after doing circuits for
an hour, due to turbo heat being absorbed by the recirculating fuel. I believe I
have solved that issue, but as the rework was significant enough, I'll be
treating it as another first flight. This means I'll have a commercial bush
pilot buddy of mine come up to do the pilot duties while I do the "flight
engineer" duties. This worked well last time and is particularly important now
as I have a significant amount of in flight calibration to do.
I've installed the EM2 with the new EC2 chips and I'd
like to calibrate the low MAP table in the air while descending. The Dynon
also has several features that must be calibrated in the air. I also have the
PSS AOA which I never really did calibrate properly (actually I didn't at all,
but it was almost dead on already) so I need to do a few flight manoeuvres for
that and lastly I want to do some tweaking on the electronic constant speed
governor under flight conditions. And I'd like to do all of this while
circling high above the control zone at my home field, so I really
want somebody to do the flying for me while I do all this.
We've made tentative plans for middle of May. I took
allot of pics of the changes I made so I'll post some along with flight reports
soon hopefully. I also added the second EWP in a parallel arrangement using the
aluminium flapper T valve that I built, so I need to do some flow tests on this
as well.
I would like to add for the benefit of those using or
planning to use or even considering using the EM2 with the EC2, that the ability
to program the EC2 from the EM2 MAP table is absolutely great. This is a great
tool and that feature alone makes it a better choice than the competing engine
monitors. Thanks Tracy.
