Neil, there are double slips on all three head tubes. And the inner tube is welded on one side and slipped on the other. Either I run with a thicker wall perforated inner pipe or try without one. Just have a large empty can. - Matt Boiteau On Wed, Jun 16, 2021 at 7:53 AM Jeff Whaley jwhaley@datacast.com < flyrotary@lancaironline.net> wrote: > Hi Matt, I could be wrong but your muffler looks like the one MISTRAL > installed, failed, and brought down their test aircraft ... not sure why > you are going that route? > Yep, looks like the easiest, most compact design but why flog a dead > horse. Hi Matt, I c= ould be wrong but your muffler looks like the one MISTRAL installed, failed= , and brought down their test aircraft ... not sure why you are going that = route?
Yep, looks like the easiest, most compact design but why flog a dead horse.= =C2=A0 Three or four feet downstream from the exhaust ports is a much safer= place for a roll-your-own muffler.
My 2 cents worth ... Jeff

Exhaust broke again. You can see my design here
https://www.ho= mebuiltairplanes.com/forums/threads/quiet-flight.6560/page-8#post-509393

and how it broke at the end of the thread.

I only used 0.050"thick 321ss for the inside perforated pipe. I'm = guessing I should find thicker pipe, and add more holes for version: 14 ?
