A good friend of mine is building up a
Corvair & planning an Air Trikes gear drive for it. No bending
loads on the crank, lower BMEP, higher HP, more prop dia for mass
flow efficiency, etc.
The plane is a major mod of a Bushby Midget Mustang I with
retracts. He picked the Corvair after finally deciding that the
BMW V12 was a bit much for the airframe.

I've been working on Corvairs more than rotaries lately, and
should probably remain quiet on the subject. :-)
Why is that?
Tracy made the comment that even the 2.85
which I have is only really useful for props >than 74”
Which I understood to be about the tip speed
being to low and inefficient with smaller diameter.
I dont want to spin my engine more than 7500
rpm.
What am I missing?
