My Renesis and EC-2 had to have the clamping circuit. Tracy added one internal to my EC-2 and I built one into the wiring harness. Both are still there.

In regard to the EC3 CAS input, NO. I thought I checked the circuit diagram and Tracy had included the clamping in the design.
Am I wrong about that and it needs it for a Renesis CAS?
