Not familiar with the EC2, but check temperature probe wiring. Not that important because not used by controller B.

Your A8 engine code is correct for a Renesis and looks like it's programmed for rotary, large secondary injectors and narrowband O2 sensor. (12 in second position, row 4, should change to 92 with cold start switch on.)

Changing the mode switch from zero should change second to last position in row 3..

Second position row 4 (ENGINFO) MSB to LSB:
ColdSwitchOn | Cont | BackupSensor | RotaryEngine | TempSensor | O2SensorType | LargeSecondaryInjectors | Turbo

Changing to wideband O2 sensor will add 4, changing your 12 to 16. Turning cold switch on will add 80 (hex).

So looks like engine type was just my problem. Of course we still don't know how my engine will run.

Do you have the stock Renesis Crank Angle Sensor pickup?

Data point from Tracy: Even though the manual states: "The EC3sends engine information over a serial link to the EM2 enginemonitor (if used)including engine speedand many otherparameters.", he early on abandoned using that. Too much jitter onthesignal from the early 13B due to gear lash in the mechanicalCAS. And from there on he just kept using the injector 1 pulse forRPM (and fuel flow).

So EM2/EM3 always requires some tach input.
