I have always assumed the inner layer tube is inconel and the outer shell was some grade of SS. I believe it to thin to be 321 SS in that location.

Finn,
What PVC pipe are you talking about? What have I
missed? Looking to weld with high temp, multi metal Procus rods.Â
stand up to 1050 degrees C..   Stainless steel 45 degrees cast
elbow approx $20.  That will be the mount for the turbo.Â
Inconel is simply high temp temp resistance, better than 321
stainless etc. All the monels are the same.
Neil.
Inconel? Really?
I did a similar cut and welded it together with SS rod and my
Henrob 2000.
I think I used the insert as the 45* elbow.
(the PVC pipe has been replaced with 0.036 SS pipe)

Can
anyone tell m,e the exact metal used in the stock exhaust
manifold? I have cut one in half to reverse the direction and
it appears to be S/S outer with inconel inserts.  It will help
to know before I weld back together with the correct rod. As
shown the weight is now approx 10 lbs and I am impressed with
the build of the manifold, --- much better than my version, and
will be not much heavier.
