Snags being the norm, mine are no exceptions. =20 The Renesis transplant was going smoothly after a rocky start (see websit= e for details) but I was hoping to do some minor mods to my old intake ma= nifold and stick it on the Renesis. No Go, the secondary ports are signi= ficantly wider spaced and bolt pattern is way different. So, since the = new manifold is probably not going to happen until after Sun 'n Fun I sta= rted on Plan B which was to put a 2.85 : 1 RD-1C drive on my current 2nd= gen engine along with the new prop I got from Performance prop. =20 Got the drive swapped out today (the B drive still looks perfect inside a= fter ~ 500 hours) but things went down hill fast. New prop is Right hand= so the cutouts in the spinner & bulkheads were wrong (duh, should have s= een that one). Had a new spinner on hand that I was going to put on the = -4 (the existing one has a slight wobble) so started trimming it for the = new prop. Then did a trial fit and found that the prop bolts are too sho= rt. New prop has a monster 88" pitch that required a thicker hub. It is= also lots longer (74"). Ordered new prop bolts. Will spend the next fe= w days tweaking my cooling system ducts to improve the cooling enough to = handle the increased power I hope the engine will make at 6800 rpm which = is what I am guessing it will turn with the C drive & big stick. It would have been a cinch to make the 220 mph mark to collect the Everet= t Hatch prize in the upcoming Sun 100 race with the Renesis but I might s= till have a shot at it.
