A jet of hot exhaust would melt that also; and aluminum does burn if it gets hot enough. If you are going to go through the trouble to change them - go steel. -3 aluminum lines are .187 OD... the 4mm plastic should be about .157, or =

1/32" smaller.  Some custom fittings would probably allow use of the = aluminum.
