Subject: [FlyRotary] Re: It Runs !!!

I was thinking that if I disconnect the fuel pump wire so that the engine cannor start, possibly turning it over and listening to the injectors would tell me if they are clicking?  Or might this be too diffucult to hear? Thanks for any and all suggestions on how to check this out.  Paul Conner

Hi Paul,

Congrats on making noise!  It's pretty much downhill from here :-)

It's fairly likely that your computer won't generate injector pulses below some minimum cranking rpm, so you wouldn't be able to generate any injector pulses when turning it by hand.  When turning it with the starter, you probably won't be able to hear the faint clicking of the injectors.

If you want to test the operation of an injector (to see if it's stuck), just unplug the connector, put 12V on one terminal of the injector, and touch a grounded wire to the other terminal.  You'll hear it click, unless it's stuck.

Good luck.  I'll just finished welding my exhaust system, which was the last major fabrication job, so it's nothing but hoses and wiring to make it run again.  I expect to be making noise by the end of next week, and maybe ready to fly by the end of the week after that.

Cheers,
Rusty

Glad to hear that the major stumbling blocks have been accomplished.  The hoses and wiring shouldn't be too difficult, as you already have that T-shirt.  Good luck.  Paul Conner
