I really don’t have any details, except it is his original engine and he does have quite a bit of time on it although I can not recall the hours. He flys it in his business frequently. He tells me to get the cruise speed he wants, he burns 9 gallons per hour. I burn around 8 in my RV-6A and the F-12 is a bit dragger. At that fuel burn rate his 64 gallons should last around 7 hours. As I understand it, he plans to refuel in Newfoundland, Greenland, Iceland and perhaps the UK. 7 hours at say a modest 130 MPH would give him around 900 mile range ‘till dry tanks.

Since he is headed West at roughly 12000 ft, he should get some tail wind help.

Max's beautiful bird.......Certainly wish him the best and tailwinds on this history making trip

along with a "God Speed".........

ED have you heard any details about his F12 such as total fuel,cruise speed,typical fuel burn

per hour,emergency equip,electronics (nav/com etc)............I would guess that he has nailed

down fuel burn after all the years of flying the F12........Do you know if he has a fresh engine

or how many hours are on this engine ??..........

Tell him that all us old "Rotorheads" will be pulling for him..........

Max Lassache built the best Falconar F12 I've ever seen. Outstanding job on that aircraft and a huge reason why I want to build one myself.

Hi Folks,

I have some news that I think would be of interest to the Rotary Crowd. Some of you may know/remember Max Lassache (Austrian born) who flew to Sun & Fun from New York state several times in his rotary powered wooden bird (can’t recall the make).

Well, Max is set to fly the Atlantic back to Austria here in a couple of weeks in his rotary powered bird - if all goes as planned. He has a 13B with Tracy’s EC2 (early, early version), redrive and my EFISM fuel management system. I am not certain, but I think this will be a first for a rotary powered aircraft.

He has carefully planned the trip and done a lot of test flight to accurate calibrate for fuel burn and distance (carrying aux fuel tank in cockpit), changed his oil and carefully look it over for metal, spark plugs, etc. So, he called me today to let me know that weather permitting he would probably start his trip over Labor day week end.

I know you will all join me in wishing Max a safe and speedy trip.
