That's fine when the engine's apart, Finn. I don't think I want the
metal to go into the block.
Looks like another trip to the machine shop - or can you buy these
barbs from Mazda?
I
tried the Mazda dealer, and they said I would have to buy the complete
housing. I also tried Mazdatrix and 4 or 5 other suppliers. They all told me
the same. Mazdatrix removed a used one for me, and sold it to me for 5 dollars
plus shipping. Problem was that it was so distorted from pulling it out of the
housing, it was unuseable. Really out of round. So, my machinist made
one for me that fit like a glove. He made it from a steel 5/8 heater hose
nipple that had a 1/2"NPT on the opposite end. (CarQuest) worked great, and
less machining because one end was already a 5/8 inch heater nipple with the
raised rib on it. Just had to turn the other end down for a 17mm press
fit. Take care. Paul Conner
