I was ready for the second flight, and discovered no battery charging
during warm up. Turned out to be a busted regulator. It seems that my PM
alternator is running too fast with the original pully and producing enough
voltage to blow some input diodes in the regulator. I did find a crack in the
potting, which looked like cause by an overheated component.
I am using a larger pully now. Hope the new regulator will be here soon.
Unfortunately, I was not able to find any information on the operating
limits of that Kubota alternator/regulator combination.
