You can use the insert, however the B&C tool is adjustable. The mini's
for the garmin in addition to being less of a diameter are shorter. There is an
adjustment for this on the tool. However, before you make a crimp make sure that
the adjustment has not slipped. When shipped it the adjustment is defeated but
is easily changed..

will accept a different tooling insert ($10) that will allow crimping the
sub miniature pins used on some of the Garmin 430, etc
connectors.
If you have the skillset, it's a lot cheaper to just
use the solder cup style connectors, but it is a *lot* more time
consuming.
