Despite locked wheels with wet (freshly cut) grass in the wheel pants,
limited ground steering (rudder only no differential braking) and uphill
(not to mention being dark), I craftily aimed for a bump in the runway carefully
timing my arrival at minimum lift off speed (ground effect only) and gleefully
launched. Only had about 15 quick discussions with my alter ego as to
whether it was smart – until the bump ended the discussion and resolved
the dilemma.
Sure wish I could be there – wet runway or not.
Well,
today would be the day for seaplane arrivals....
But no fears; I don't
think there will be any rain left in the skies by the 16th, and the runway will
be fine a few hours after the rain stops (for everyone except Ed A. :-)
).
If you're driving, be sure to check your auto GPS against Google Maps
before departure; many older databases try to leave you about 6 miles south of
us.
We're geared up, and looking forward to seeing everyone next
week.
Come on down,
Charlie & Tupper
