Just occured to me: you don't use oil injection, do you?
Most of us are premixing oil in the gas and have disabled the stock oil injection.

Yes. The engine was stored with some sorty of goo in it.

Did that a few times. Have oil spots all over the wing, my teeshirt and face to prove it. :)

(must irritate the Lycoming owners)  
One word - "annual"  just miss out the "nu" in some cases.
