In most cases where more than one injector is used
(expensive to manufacture) the smaller injector is mounted close in to smooth
idle and off idle operation. Because only small amounts of fuel are used in
those situations. So easy starting and smooth running while cold can be managed.
High power injector(s) are mounted further out in the runner to provide time for
better atomization of the much larger fuel quantity.
These thoughts are from manufacturers who will commit
any crime to get another 1/2 MPG.
It may have little effect on an engine that
runs nearly flat out most of the time.

The guys running P-ports do
that.
