Sounds like you have the cooling situation well under control.
 
Yes, I have “P51” style louvers along each side of the cowl and a fairly large opening at the bottom aft of the cowl.

Sorry Ed forgot  temps, on that run, H2o= 198 F,  oil=  205 F,  that was WOT circling airport,  also forgot to report,  we added 2--4"x 4" louvered SS vents to the bottom rear of the cowl post first flight, now oil is warmer than coolant.     David

3000' , 74deg. F, 6700rpm, 26.5 MAP, high rpm takeoff pitch set on prop,  165 MPH ind. ( circling over airport )  RV6A,  1120#, Bruce Turrantine 13B, 20" intake runners, 3.5"  throttlebody  ( from 2001 Cadillac Northstar eng. ),  22" 1-7/8 ID" .60" wall 304 SS  exhaust headers into 3" X16" pipe into Hushpower Res. under fus.,  Conversion Concepts bed eng. mount,  Mazda oil cooler under RWS 2.17 psru,  GM evap. core x 2 rads.,  GM 580 coils x 4,  Ivoprop 68" Magnum 65-105 pitch elect. inflight adjust with custom faired transition from spinner to prop blades,  23 hrs. ground testing,  12 hrs. airtime over Mason Jewett Field,  will now remove cowl one more time for inspection, then start to do long distance flights, 100 mile rad. from Mason with a crew member for computer tuning made available by FAA  ( ask & you will receive ),  need 40 hrs.   David R.
