I was an interesting trip. Missed the Conclav= e due to heavy snow in Frankfurt which had me stranded at the airport for a= bout 26 hours. My girlfriends flight was diverted to Amsterdam for a few ho= urs but she beat me to Rome. Different flights since we used Miles for one = ticket.=20 It was cold and wet but we adapted and made the most of the trip. The Vatic= an, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Colosseum, Forum, Florance and a visit t= o my brother who lives in Lucca (Tuscany). He is taxed at 70% on his job as= a garbage collector and if he charges to fix small engines and electronics= , his passion like mine for flying and building, he is taxed at 80%. Geesh.= He "heats" his home with wood and tells me he does better than most his fr= iends. He has been there since he was 15 and will turn 50 in August. He is = a good solid family man, married 31 years with two kids. Fighting the good = fight with the statist against him.=20 He is envious that I can build and fly my own aircraft. Everything there is= so overly regulated. I sympathize with our EU brothers and sisters trying = to build and fly over there.=20 Now that I am back y'all can start discussing rotary aircraft again. Seems = it has been quiet without me :-) Chris Sent from my iPhone 5 On Mar 12, 2013, at 7:15, "Jeff Whaley" wrote: > They closed the doors already Chris ... you're a day late for the conclav= e. > Maybe you can give us a head's-up on the colour of smoke coming from the = Vatican chimneys. > Don't stand in one place for too long in Rome -- lot's of pick-pockets. > Have fun ... > Jeff >=20 > From: Chris Barber >=20 > No activity for a week? Yikes. Well I will be out of the hangar 'till th= e 20th. I am in the boarding line for Lufthansa's long tube. Heading to Rom= e, then Florance, the a short visit to visit my brother in Lucca.
