Well, I started a Thorp T-18 in 1963 and had to abandon the project due to life and family, but 34 years later finished my dream with a rotary powered RV-6A in 1997 - so the dream can survive a loooonnnnnggg time.

Good luck and hope to see you around the pea patch

Hi Ed...

We flew around the country in a 120 knot Cutlass the summer of 2011 it was then I realized our needs had already changed far beyond what the 801 could do even before I had started flying the airplane.  Making the first cut into the airplane was the hardest, but I knew the decision was the correct one.

We now belong to a flying club and fly 172, 172rg, 182rg, or Lance depending on what is needed for that flight.

Maybe in the far future when our flying needs arc back down from flying faster with more people, more stuff, and in weather back down to low, slow, and in the sunshine I'll try again.

Hey Scott

Had not heard from your neck of the woods for some time and was wondering about the status of your project.  Sorry to hear it didn't work out.

Hello All...

I cut up my 801 over 18 months ago.  I kept the 13b motor, rd1a, em2, ec2 and the avionics thinking I might build something else, but nope engine sits in the shed and the electronics on a shelf.

The rotary stuff I'd like to go to a new loving home and am willing to let it go cheap.  Let me know if you are interested.  squiggles@yahoo.com
