Yes, my spouse had both her lens replace a couple of years
ago. They certainly appear to have the technique down to very low (but not
No) risk.
Interestingly, most folks (as you suggested) do go for the
multifocal replacements to do away with the need for glasses. My eye
doctor was a bit surprised when I told him if/when I had a replacement lens I
wanted one to maintain my current near-sightness. He was a bit surprised
until he heard my logic. I have only one good eye, I wear polycarbonate
lens for some eye protection - if I got multifoucs lens then there was a
good chance I would not wear my glasses as often - thereby reducing the
protection for the one good eye. You typical engineering logic type
thinking {:>)
So lens replacement or not - it looks like near sightness
will remain {:>)

Man, that's a shame! I guess that if there's an
upside, clear lens replacement surgery seems to be a non-event these days. I
remember talking to James Freeman ('flyeyes' on the VAF forum) several years ago
about some of the new tech that's available. You can now get a multifocal
replacement lens & get rid of reading glasses, so maybe it can work out as a
good thing.
Maybe you & Earnest could share driving chores.
If
you can make it, you know what Tupper will have waiting in the kitchen
cabinet...

Would love to Charlie, unfortunately my one "good"
eye has a cataract which has developed to the point its very doubtful I
could past the distant vision requirement in the classIII physical.
Therefore it looks like my flying in my RV is over until
I get a cataract lens replacement. Not particularly thrilled by that
prospect as the last eye operation I had (admittedly a bit more serious)
was botched and resulted in lost of sight in my right eye. Also,
if I should take the class III and flunk, then I am banned as flying as a LSA
pilot - so most prudent course at this time appears to exercise LSA
rights until eye issue is resolved.
But, seeing the list of folks attending really makes me
want to at hop in my car and drive that way again {:>) I certainly
will miss not attending.
Say "Hi" to Tupper for me and have a great
flyin.

So, Ed, does that mean you can fly down to MS for
the Rotary gathering on the 28th? :-)

Hi
Chris,
I just got back from a visit to Louisiana and was wondering if
the list had disbanded. But, apparently everyone is just busy flying
