I haven't flown in a few weeks. As mentioned I was not developing proper boost. Even though I have the weakest spring installed (a 1.5 lb. I had previously misstated it was a 3lb) so do not expect much boost, my manifold pressure was not getting past the low 20's in flight.
I was using a very cheap EBay intercooler that seemed to flow well on the bench but was not working when applied. I have spent the last few weeks diognosing, testing and moving thing around so to use the factory Mazda intercooler (quite the strange overall shape). I got it installed over the last few days and buttoned up the cowl last night.
I seem to be getting crazy power now as the brakes had trouble holding. Low 30 lb range in MP. Okay, maybe not crazy power but a noted improvement.
I am working evening shift now and getting off work at 11:00 pm so it may be a few days until I am able to get my butt out of bed early enough before work to try flight six. I tend to stay up until around 4am when working this shift and sleep until about noon. It does allow uninterrupted time in the hangar after my shift to work on the plane. While I dont usually mind folks stopping by it just rarely happens at 2 am ;-)
