There was a guy who optimized his Mustang for performance.  He wrote a book which I don't recall the title of but it was all about the performance tests and modifications he made and the corresponding speed gains.  Anyhow, he discovered that for his installation the exit should be 1.1 times the intake.  For what it's worth....

Analyzed the dimensions of my cowling, and fount the exit openings being about 70% of the inlet openings. Big mistake there. This will be fixed before looking at other options.
