I mounted a DNA muffler and ran it at full power for a few moments. My LightSpeed Zulu was able to knock down most of the noise, but my intercom was useless. I had to turn it all the way down to keep it from breaking squelch. This is frustrating as !@#$. The only muffler that was able to knock the noise down to a tolerable level was that Burns Stainless 2 stage deal that came apart on me. I know that many of you are using various units that, over time, get the innards blown out, but I'd really like to be able to use my intercom. The only other thought was to extend the tailpipe farther back under the fuselage, but it is already ugly as !@#$. It does terminate right behind the pilot seat, however. Does anyone have any experiential thoughts on the tangential muffler? Right now, I have a 2 into 1 header that runs down and out the bottom of the cowl then to the muffler. Thanks for your thoughts.
