FYI:
I fixed the water pump and drive pulley … flew last night for a test circuit and all was okay, so I went back this morning before work and flew for another 0.8 hours. I got a couple of used water pumps from a local Mazda friend but when
I installed one it leaked … internal seal was shot. I ended up buying a gear puller and removed the damaged flange from my original water pump and replaced it with the good flange from the leaky pump. That was a bit of a hassle stretched out over 2 weeks
but in the end I’m happy and it only cost me $40 for a gear puller … Mazda wanted $150 and CTC $210 for new pumps. The pulley is now installed with 8 bolts plus loctite, 4 are safety-wired together and belt not too tight.
