Hi
Ed,
I lost
track of Leon years ago, and have tried on a few occasions to look him up to see
how he was doing. Unfortunately, I could never locate him. This
morning, I was surprised to see his name on the subject of an email, and as I
feared, the purpose of the message was to inform me that Leon passed away.
The message was from one of his friends, who had been copied on some of the
emails we exchanged years ago. It only said that he died last Tuesday, and
it didn’t give any details.
Leon was
a really interesting guy, and I imagine him as the rotary version of Bert Munro
from “The World’s Fastest Indian”. One of his friends had confirmed that
it was pretty accurate. BTW, Prgomet was his real name, though he
used Promet after his father died. There was a really long (in Leon’s
usual style) story about that, but I don’t recall the details offhand.
I’d
appreciate it if you’d pass the news along to the list, since I’m not on it
these days. I do peek at the archive occasionally to see who’s still
active. Glad to see that you and Tracy are still going strong. No flying
news for me. I haven’t flown anything in years, and don’t own a single
rotary engine part anymore. I bought a new Corvette instead, so I’m a
traitor :-)
Cheers,
Rusty
