The old round style Peterson Gerotor pumps are just fine. The new square style Peterson Gerotor pumps are a disaster. We ran through three of those. Pressure section splits open to produce a massive high pressure oil leak. The second failure brought a comment from the driver who suggested I was probably putting them together wrong. He has an unnatural fear of apexes, so I guess we are even.

I sent the last failed pump back to Peterson for their opinion and to have them rebuild it. Their opinion was that I abused the pump and was probably running over 100 pounds of pressure. So they charged me just a bit under new pump prices for my used pump back with a new pressure section. It failed the following weekend, running exactly 100 PSI.
So you only have to hit me in the head three times to get my attention.
I went to the round Moroso three stage pump. I has run 4 years with no attention, putting out 100 PSI. Still on the car.

Pressure vessels are round for a reason.............

Lynn: Rotor I believe Brand is Peterson. However I am always open to a direct Tutorial from one much more seasoned then myself:)While I am at it. Is it possible to have the existing system operational in case the belt driven pump were to fail? I am also thinking about a Rotrex super charger. Your thoughts
I was at a car show a few weeks back. I build oddball engines for a friend who restores cars. A fellow there had one on a Dodge charger.
Not too big. Very noisy. Like an air raid siren. Drive belt seemed under quite a load turning the pig. No room for one on a plane, plus a turbo removes the muffling problems.

Ernest: There is no room below the plate for an oil pan. The retractable nose landing gear takes up that spot. so I will be using a dry sump system with remote 3 Gal oil tank and three stage pump. I think this will be a better way to do the oil system.
