Well this has gone rather far afield from tension bolt replacement, but=20
I must comment. The entire idea of oxygenating fuels was an idiotic,=20
eco-twit, no science needed idea. The only vehicles which may show a=20
small improvement in emissions using oxygenated fuel are 20+ year old=20
carbureted engines. All late model engines with O2 sensors control=20
their own mixture and all the Ethanol or MTBE fuels do is show unburned=20
O2 in the tailpipe which results in a richer mixture and lower mileage.=20
(Usually about 1-11/2 MPG reduction) The MTBE fiasco was pushed through=20
in California with the blessing of the Sierra Club one of the=20
supposedly most aggressive eco watchdog's blessing. Please save me from=20
the feel good, junk science, eco nuts. My point is that they do more=20
harm than good, and I DO CARE about the planet, I live here!

Ethanol in fuel was never about efficiency. NEVER. It was about=20
replacing a very toxic oxygenate (MTBE) with something cleaner burning=20
and less toxic. Lead in aviation fuel will go the same way.. its=20
inevitable. One plant makes the lead that goes in=C2=A0it. They go tits up=

and the 25 percent of the aviation fleet that burns 75 percent of the=20
leaded avgas will be knee-capped brutally.

Biofuel is not exclusively ethanol. Its also HYDROCARBONS synthesized=20
or processed from living matter, as opposed to fossil fuels naturally=20
developed from long dead matter. Its bacteria in a digester/reactor=20
with a feedstock and a product stream. Ethanol is in cars to reduce=20
smog.. nothing more. Biofuels in aircraft do not necessarily have to=20
include ethanol (but it could).

Ifwe dont start doing more than paying lip service to preserving our=20
environment, we will have the worlds best military protecting the=20
worlds largest ecological wasteland.

As long as we are overly=C2=A0dependent on fossil fuels, we will be subject=

to the foreign policy of others. Biofuels, Nuclear, Solar, Wind,=20
Hydroelectric... all things that need to be developed further. And if=20
we wait until its too late to transition, our worlds best military will=20
be reduced to throwing rocks and writing nasty letters, because our=20
turbine powered planes and tanks dont run on good intentions.

play. Gasohol would be gone in a month. It takes almost a gallon of=20
fuel to produce a gallon of gasohol. You have to boil it. It is made=20
