Interesting point.  I had never really considered that aspect of exhaust design.  

What ID tube works best for a p-port?

Equally spaced pulses from identical length tubes joined at the same angles, while still loud will sound less irritating, and might be easier to muffle.  Uneven lengths and angles sound like fingernails on a black board.
