Re: [FlyRotary] Re: Hushpower failures
Dennis, do you have photos of your setup, particularly of your intake?
Cheers

My Hushpower resonator ( short hushpower) is still going - 250 hours on Renesis and LOVE IT!! Everyone that hears my fly by comments on how quiet the plane is. About 10 hours ago I removed the muffler
and removed the few peices of the baffle still inside. I never saw any performancy decrease due to blockage as it failed. Now it is only an enlarged muffler shell in the exhaust system. My neighbors tell me it is no louder and the tone of the exhaust is
a little deeper.
My 4 inch dia. tangantial pipe (used to turn the exhaust 180 deg.) is still doing fine with no signs of any failure. This is located foward (toward the prop) and is fed by the factory exhaust maifold. This system combined with the
split side flange exhaust of the Renesis makes for a very easy to control exhaust.
As far as Renesis Horsepower goes - I have a Catto 76X88 porp and RD1-C PSRU on my RV-7A - I pretty well match my neighbor"s RV-7A with a Lycoming 180 engine with dual electronic ignition.
The following has been addressed before but I'll repeat it based on my experience.
I use 0.5 to 0.7 oz of WalMart outboard oil and Marvel mixed half and half per gallon of regular grade Mogas. Cost is about $12.00/gal for the oil mixture. In cruise I use 8 - 9 gph and at 0.6 oz/gal I would burn 213 gallons of Mogas for each gallon of
oil. Mogas is about $1.00 cheaper than 100 LL. With the oil cost figures included I save $200 in fuel cost when I fly 213/9 = 23.6 hours.
My dual fuel pumps are in the cabin, foward of the seats on the floor. I have never had any fuel vapor problems - even in Texas in the summer.
Hope this helps some.

Has anyone had their hushpower muffler fail, and if so, how did they fail?
Thanks,
Brian Trubee
