Nice looking installation, Rusty.  I see one potential problem, however.  I feel that those rectangular pieces of wood taped on the faces of the cores might interfere with airflow. (Yes, I'm kidding).

But Todd said they'd bock the hail :-)

I know you have done a lot of research on the internet in the past looking for hose and fittings. I need to plumb my new radiator that is similar to your first radiator, (with -16 AN fittings on both the radiator and the water pump), and I'm looking for the best/least expensive source for the hose and fittings. Where did you purchase yours? Thanks for the info and good luck on your installation. Looks well planned and professional.  Paul Conner

Thanks for the comments Paul.  As for the hoses, I've tried to resist answering this, because I'm not sure my experience is the "norm".  I bought all my fittings from ANPlumbing ( http://www.anplumbing.com/shop/ ).   They carry only Earl's brand of hoses and fittings, and must have a very large inventory.  They handled all my orders quickly, and had 99.9% of everything I ordered in stock.  That's the good news.  On the downside, their prices aren't necessarily the best, but being able to place one large order, rather than several smaller ones, made up for that.

The real complaint is that I'm skeptical of the quality of the Earl's fittings.  On my RV-8, I used nothing but Aeroquip.  That was the first time I had ever made up braided hoses, and they all came out perfect, without a single leak.  Later, I added an inverted oil system, again all Aeroquip.  Again, no leaks anywhere.  On the RV-3, I used all Earl's fittings, and I bet 9 out of 10 of them leaked.  Usually, (over) tightening them would stop it, but sometimes the leak was in the swivel seal of the fitting itself.  I finally got all those to stop leaking by exercising the fitting swivels.  Bottom line is that I will NOT be using Earl's fittings again.

Now that I've said all that, I can add that I have spoken to others, who have been very happy with Earl's, so maybe I'm just really unlucky.  At any rate, the Pegasus racing link that Mark provided has better prices than ANPluming, and the fittings are Aeroquip, or Goodyear.  I made a note of it for my next round of fittings.  Thanks Mark.

Cheers,
Rusty (off to Mobile to work late tonight... again)
