Congratulations on your free-fall. That's got to be one of the better ways
to celebrate a birthday.
I used to do free-fall in the military. I'd recommend it for any pilot,
just to see what it's like to get out of a plane. We lost a C-130 crew off the
Oregon coast in 1997, they had a progressive electrical system failure at around
17,000 feet and stayed with the airplane trying to get the engines re-lit. It
was completely outside their comfort zone to be jumping out of a plane,
especially over water, so they all went in with it. Only FE or survived,
all he remembered was waking up floating in the middle of the ocean.
I can tell you, were I there, in a C-130 that turned into a glider, you
could not have kept me on board that plane.
