Just to be sure I didn't confuse you,  you are correct that it can't be altered mechanically.  But you can change static timing from the computer.  No mirror required.  Beer may help though.

I don't see a way to alter the timing mechanically. This is a third gen with
two round sensors next to a trigger on the end of the E shaft.
