Steve,
Very nice, very smooth and strong, the = muffler=20 doesn't sound too loud, however I don't expect the packing to = last.
Mistral do make good stuff, but = expensive. I'm=20 wondering if their using Mazda parts on this engine or their own parts = developed=20 for certification.
The plane look ready to launch itself = into the air=20 with those high RPM runs - what static RPM do you achieve with the = Mistral=20 engine.
If you can provide any info it would be = appreciated.
I can understand your = frustration.

Here=20 is a link to my latest engine start.  As many probably don't = know, I'm=20 not nearly as smart as most of you, so this engine is a full-up = Mistral 2=20 rotor, their first in the field as a matter of fact.  It is = normally=20 aspirated, and has a Burns Stainless 3" x 17" muffler with stainless = scrubble=20 packing.  The muffler is not terribly effective, but I'm going to = stick=20 with it for now.

The airplane is basically ready to go, but my airworthiness = certificate=20 has been delayed because the Van Nuys FSDO has arbitrarily banned = experimental=20 flights from my home airport, Santa Barbara.  I've got the = national EAA=20 working on the problem, but, for now, I wait.  I thought you-all = might=20 like to see this.
