That is way low for static with the RD-1C = gearing. My=20 static with RD-1A is about 5400, of course with a much smaller prop = (68x80). I=20 would expect somewhere near 6000 with the RD-1C.

What=20 is the max static RPM you can get?  There are two of us with the = same=20 Renesis, RD1-C and Catto 76X88 and the best we get is 4750.  Does = that=20 match what you get?

Friday I flew to Llano (70 miles) to pick up some = barbecue=20 for the wife and myself.  Take off was at 900' field elevation and = I=20 climbed at full throttle to 7,500'.  I used 7500' as the test = altitude=20 because Bill Eslick's RV-6 flight test data sent to the list on 3/10/10 = had=20 graphs for 7500'.

My aircraft is an RV-7A, Renesis 4 port, RD1-C = redrive=20 2.85:1, Catto 76X88 composit prop, EC-2, EM-2, very quiet exhaust, DEI = intake=20 designed for 6200 rpm, full 42 gal. auto fuel, 200 # payload (pilot with = some=20 A/C tools, headsets etc).

Field elevation  900'
Climbed = @ =20 110 kts. indicated air speed  - Full throttle climb to 7500"
OAT = 70 deg.=20 at takeoff
Initial climb rate was 1800 - 1900 fpm
( I get ~ 2400 = fpm with=20 only 21 gallons in the tanks)

@ 4500" the climb rate was ~ 1400=20 fpm
Water 188 F, Oil 200 F

@ 6000' the climb rate was ~ 1250=20 fpm
Water 188 F, Oil 203 F , OAT 60 F

@ 7500' climb rate was ~ = 1000=20 fpm
Water 189 F, Oil 204 F

I leveled off for about 5 minutes = than went=20 to full throttle again.

Full throttle for about 3 ot 4 minutes = @ 7500'=20
MP 23.3 in.
Fuel flow - 12.1 gph
TAS 193 mph  - EM-2 = data
Engine: 6660 - 6680 rpm
Water 184 F, Oil 205 F  OAT 65 F =

When I fly at 7500' I normally use 8 to  8.3 = gph
TAS 157=20 mph
Water 160 F, Oil 180 F

The barbecue from Cooper's in Llano = was=20 great!
