Bob W. Typical in the big engine business is to license many sources around the world so that each country can have its own "In country source" rather than suffering the loss of face by having to use another countries engine in your ships. Done by all of the big engine people and for all of the support pieces like fuel injection. Colt industries builds Pielstick engines and L'orange fuel injection under license and calls the pieces Colt. LicenseTorg DieselKiki Crosley Colt and many others all make the Pielstick engines and sell parts. A US Navy ship can pull alongside a Russian trauler and buy a delivery valve, or barrel and plunger, or a whole fuel injection pump and be confident it will work perfectly on a Colt built Pielstick engine. I worked on a lot of this stuff for the Government when we were still free Curtis Wright and later John Deer had a perfect Wankel replacement for the Colt/ (old Fairbanks Morse) 38D81/8 opposed piston 2 cycle diesel used on subs and aircraft carriers. But the Navy decided the 1930s design was good enough. Lynn E. Hanover --00151761c7b40c62b7047fe9a672 Content-Type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable
