Hi John

Well assuming the Smog pumps are all alike.  You want to attach your vacuum hose to the one on the top side.  Leave the one on the back open (I unscrewed the pressed in nipple because it interferred with my homemade manifold fuel rail) but free to discharge air.

Ed,
I'm setting up the plumbing for my smog pump. Since you're using one I'm sure you'll know the answer to this question....
The smog pump has a hole in the back, and one on the top. Which end sucks, and did you pipe the outgoing air anywhere?
John
