     Rusty....I only suggested the blue foam, because you can stick in on with
5 minute epoxy, it sands to shape in a few strokes with a sanding board, and
is light weight, and easy to glass over it.   Paul Conner

 
Thanks to all for the comments, pictures,  and suggestions.  Now that I've thought about it some more, I can almost see where a simple foam and glass method could turn out to be the quickest and easiest way to get the job done.  It really sounds worse than it is. 
 
For now, the cowl is attached, and I'll be spending time trying to get the evap cores, intake, and exhaust made.  I'll probably do all the rest of the cowl work when I get to the point where I can locate the oil cooler scoop.  That gives me something to dread :-)
