Greetings,

I had a very optimistic = day for my=20 rev-2 upgrade.  First, I weighed most of the large items, and got = an=20 estimate of the difference in weight between the turbo version, and the = new NA=20 arrangement.  It should be about 54 lbs lighter!  All this = weight off=20 the nose is also great, since I was way nose heavy before.  = Calculations=20 show that the CG will move aft 2", which is just perfect!  I really = couldn't have hoped for any better results.

I also managed to get the = initial=20 fitting of the new cowl done, so I can concentrate on fitting evap = cores,=20 intakes, and exhaust.  This is actually the fun part, especially = when folks=20 drive up to the hanger and rave about the looks of the new cowl.  = It's=20 amazing how good a stock cowl can look :-)

Cheers,

Rusty (Motivated, but = still a ways=20 from the second first flight)

Some = weights:

Old radiator- 22=20 lbs (sure thought it was more)

New evap cores-=20 5.5 lbs each, total 11 lbs

Difference- 11=20 lbs lighter dry, and about 19 lighter wet

Old intake, TB,=20 pressurized air box-  11 = lbs

New intake will=20 probably be about the same, so no weight change.

Old 100A=20 alternator- 12 lbs

New 55A=20 alternator- 6 lbs

Difference- 6=20 lbs lighter

Turbo, manifold,=20 spacer, exhaust pipe, heat shield- 44 lbs

New exhaust with=20 Spintech, estimate 15 lbs

Difference- 29=20 lbs lighter

EWP’s, one way=20 valves, and extra hose will probably be about the same weight as the = stock=20 mechanical pump.  =

Cowl will=20 probably be a wash, since the new one will also have the rear cheek = extensions=20 installed.
