Well, Rino, I'm still using it, so I would put it in the serviceable
category - others may disagree.

The thing I would be most concerned about is that after "heat treating" that
relative small area of the side housing - what stresses would this cause
between that spot and the rest of the iron in the side housing - would
cracks occur, etc?  I decided that since this alloy for the side housing was
probably designed for some temperature variation (coolant on one side, fire
on the other) that the effects would not be drastic.

So far, so good.
