Ed - I've got some hours in a Cherokee, and I like the "parking brake" flap control - for all the reasons you mentioned. With the narrow cockpit of the RV I'm sitting shoulder-to-shoulder w/ my pax (I'm 6-3 and 220 lbs) which makes operating the "parking brake" that much more difficult. Thom - I looked at Precise Flight's web site and found a mention of some flap controllers for certified aircraft but was unable to find details for those. Since I couldn't find anything that met my specs, I built a prototype.
