I may be able to wear the Clarity Aloft headset, but from past experience, I have found "inside the ear canal" headsets uncomfortable after a while.  Maybe the Clarity is different.  I'm hoping that the tangential muffler is significantly quieter than the DNA that I'm currently running, thereby making my current ANR headsets adequate, and making my hangar neighbors happy too.

I recently participated in the Pilots and Paws 5000 by transporting a cocker spaniel from San Angelo to Austin, and I couldn't help but feel sorry for the dog for having to listed to the exhaust noise for an hour and a half.  If I were to do it on a regular basis, I would invest in a pair of doggie-muffs.  Hopefully, the tangential muffler will make things more bearable.

I dont know if you read my comments on the Clarity Aloft headset, but I found it more effective than the Zulu. And a fair bit cheaper too, though still expensive. Assuming you dont mind wearing earplugs its a good solution although the rest of the world will still have to tolerate your noise.

Kelly,

You just need to fly at Mach 1 so you stay ahead of the sound.  ;-)

Can anyone report on the effectiveness of the tangential muffler in actual real world situations?  (As I recall Al G. is running a tangential muffler on his Velocity.)  I ask because I'm in the process of building one for my Lancair with the hopes that it will work better than the DNA muffler that I'm currently running.  I think it will work better at reducing the noise level in the cabin, but at what cost to power?  Hopefully, this will save me the cost of a new Zulu ANR headset.  Comments appreciated.

Hey gang!

I came across a rare find this weekend.

Any serious rotorhead will certainly appreciate this.

Bluelines from 1973 of the General Motors Wankel Rotary engine.

I just put them up on eBay
